Big Dead lift PR today!

135X8
225X5
295X
365X2
415X1
486X1 (16lb PR)

Only had 470 in weights, so I taped two of my wife's 8lb dumbbells to the bar. I got so pumped that I say 200KG in vid, but I count the weights and it is 220.

Here's the pull:

Thanks guys! I did a deload week and then came into this week looking for PRs in all three of the powerlifts. It worked! biggrin.gif

My total in the 3 lifts has increased from 975 to 1111# since January 17. The only thing I did different was a lot more squatting.

Shoulders weren't feeling particularly good after moving my mom-in-law yesterday, so I went light weight / high volume on bench. 175X21, X18, X12. 3rd set was supposed to be 15. 12 came up fine, but apparently I hit a wall, because 13 was not happening. Good thing it was light weight, because I had no spotter and had to dump. smile.gif

High Box squats (Did these at the gym to a bench. Bench height doesn't quite let you get to parallel).
Bar (55#)X10
105X8
145X5
195X5
235X3
285X3
325X3
375X2
415X1 (PR by 15lb)
415X1

Dead stop rack good mornings. Kept these fairly high as well until I get used to them. Only went to about a 45 degree angle. Nowhere near 90 degrees. Felt good. I'll drop the pins 1 hole (4") next time.
235X5
285X3
325X2

Pretty happy with the workout. Going to do my next box squat session at home with the lower box. No rack, but I like getting below parallel on them.

Was warm and sunny in the MD today, so I went out on the deck and did some overhead/push presses. My form is horrible on these. Just never done much overhead pressing because of shoulder injuries from hockey. Went ok, but I definitely need to work on these.

barX10
95X10
135X5
185X1
200X1 (PR)
200X1
135X10

Squats: Felt stronger on squats today than I can ever remember.

bar(55#)X10
105X8
145X5
195X5
235X3
265X3
300X3 (PR)(Had 4 or 5 in me, but I got pitched forward on 3rd rep and basically did a good morning. Didn't hurt at all, but I thought it was best to rack after that)
330X1 (PR)
330X1 (PR)
330Xmiss (went extra deep and hit the pins. Somthing about taking the tension off messed me up and I missed partway up)

Very very happy with the workout.

Gearing down my PL training a bit. Was getting a bit overtrained and hit a plateau. Missed 310 on bench Monday and got buried twice by 375 on squats yesterday. Going to do an extended deload and let everything recover. Will try a 500# DL at some point this week or next but other than that, I'm going to chill for a bit.

Hit some DO bending today for the first time in months. The benching and squats have really helped my overall strength. Was able to kink a huge bastard (6" X 5/16") for the first time. However, it froze at 58 degrees. It was way off center, but it was still a shock. I have never kinked something and not been able to finish it. I just didn't have anything left in the tank. I waited too long after I kinked it to hit it again and it just wasn't moving. Still pretty happy considering it was my first heavy DO bend in forever. Once my stamina improves a bit, I should kill one with no problem. This batch of bastards cal'd at 510, so I'm thinking at least 600# with an inch cut off, but who knows. If I get one, I will send one to Eric to have him calibrate it at 6".

Haven't been doing much except a lot of DO bending the last few days. I was getting way overtrained.

Last night I did some explosive, body weight box squats to a low box. The old man can still get decent air, even at 265. Wonder if I can still dunk a ball??? Hmmm

Did 10 sets of 3 on those, ran some hill sprints and did bodyweight walking lunges with a jump on each rep. Actually pretty sore in my glutes and hips today. Also tweaked my right calf on the hill sprints, so no more of those for awhile. My core has a good soreness too. Strange.
